Spa directors and managers saw significant improvements in their treatment business in April, with 57% observing an improvement compared to the previous year. A more modest 21% saw growth in retail while slightly more (27%) reported a decline, showing room in retail strategies.
Treatment room occupancy remained strong at 79%, perhaps due in part to the vast skillsets of spa therapists, who are upskilling in more than just treatment techniques. Our Insider survey showed that spa managers are prioritising comprehensive staff training beyond treatment protocols to enhance overall service quality. Key areas of training include sales and retail skills (86%), health and safety procedures (57%) and IT skills (57%).
