WORK HAPPIER

The team at software specialist Beu share three top tips for making your work life happier and easier, while also improving your salon’s productivity and efficiency

Working hard is great, but your business is somewhere where people come to relax and feel good about themselves, so it’s important not to be too busy. After all, if your client is having their brows laminated and your therapist answers their phone, replies to texts or updates their socials during this, then it doesn’t exactly sound like a zen place. But don’t worry, we have some tips that will allow you to keep your salon a relaxing zone while maximising the efficiency of your business.

What is your golden hour?

Are you most productive in that hour before lunch, or maybe it’s in the evening when you’re out of the salon and have just got home? Whenever it might be, if you are self-employed or own a salon, one thing is for sure, your work doesn’t finish when the final client of the day leaves.

If you find yourself with a mountain of admin, think about when you are most productive and plan for focused work. Get the coffee on, put your headphones in and you’ll get it done quicker than expected.

Software optimisation

I know you’re probably bored of hearing that software can solve all of your problems... but hear me out for a second. Most salons are using Instagram to promote their business, but it’s so easy to find yourself spending way too much trying to keep up with all the posts, likes and comments.

One thing that can be done is to schedule all of your social posts in advance. This can either be done with the Instagram drafts feature or with third-party software that will automatically publish your posts at the time you scheduled. This means you can smash out all your social posts for the week in one evening in front of the TV with a glass of wine – rather than trying to come up with a catchy caption while your client’s lash lift processes.

Also, using a salon management platform to stay on top of all your appointments, staff and finances is a must, which is a great segue in to telling you to check out Beu. Seriously, if you haven’t yet, go do it now – it will transform your salon.

To-do lists

The more disorganised you are, the more you will benefit from having a solid to-do list jotted down every day. Before you start any work, sit down with a coffee for 10 minutes and write down everything you need to complete before the end of the day. Refer back to the list and then carry over any incomplete tasks for the following day. Not only will this make you more productive, it will keep you on top of any deadlines.

What are you waiting for? If you are a salon owner or are self-employed, visit beuapp.com/ get-software to upgrade your business today.
