Aromatherapy Associates launches new sleep treatment

Spa skincare brand Aromatherapy Associates has partnered with Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona, Spain, to create the exclusive Rest and Recharge Sleep Experience, a transformative treatment designed to soothe or re-energise, tailored to the needs of each client.

The 90-minute treatment combines the healing power of aromatherapy with guided breathing, visualisation and massage techniques, with a choice between two of the Aromatherapy Associates signature oil blends: Deep Relax, featuring grounding vetiver, soothing chamomile and calming sandalwood; or Revive Evening, a blend of mellow patchouli and revitalising ylang ylang.

Mandarin Oriental Barcelona charges €250 (£206) for this treatment. aromatherapyassociates.com

Tried and tested… Icoone

The lowdown: The Icoone device delivers a combination of customisable face and body care programmes that can be used for health and wellness outcomes as well as aesthetics like cellulite and body contouring.

The experience: I arrived at the Sadaf Jaffari clinic in London just as they were putting their elaborate Christmas decorations up, making the space even more gorgeous.

I was interested in trying the Icoone device as I love anything that can help with lymphatic drainage and fibrotic tissue because of my lipedema condition. I was feeling a bit wary though, since I was experiencing some sciatic pain after my period, so I was pleasantly surprised that during my consultation my therapist Kelly Singleton said that she would be able to help me with that.

The treatment involves wearing a rather sleek catsuit that clings to the body while the device itself looks like a robotic octopus with its long arms extending to a variety of treatment heads for different protocols and parts of the body.

Singleton chose to do a lymphatic drainage treatment on me, which I have tried with similar devices, but I found this a lot more comfortable and relaxing.

Icoone uses “Roboderm” technology, a type of vacuum massage that helps to oxygenate the connective tissue. I could feel my tissue being pulled upwards while simultaneously being gently pummelled by the treatment heads. This felt amazing, especially knowing that this action is incredible for the symptoms of my condition. After completing the lymphatic drainage on the entirety of my body, front and back, Singleton switched the device to medical mode to gently work on my sciatica on the left side.

The verdict: This treatment felt incredible, especially seeing as two treatment heads can be used at the same time to work on both legs and sides of the body simultaneously. I can definitely see how having regular treatments or a course could have a multitude of aesthetic and wellness benefits, especially for clients with impaired lymphatic systems or any tissue and muscle disorders.

Business benefits: This device can do so much, from working on cellulite and scarring, to lymphedema and lipoedema, as well as wrinkle reduction, wellness and relaxation. It’s also great for helping reduce surgery downtime and to improve pregnancy recovery.
