What are your top tips or finishing touches for giving your clients the best experience?
Kiah Hunter, beauty therapist, Infinity Hair and Beauty, Lake District: “Simple things, such as, when waiting for the tinting or lash lifting process, I give my client a hand massage. That little additional touch has had so much positive feedback in going the extra mile.”
Teresa Tarmey speaks out about proposed aesthetic licence categorisations
Anna Tsankova, founder, FaceGlow, London: “I absolutely agree and all comments are on point. I happen to train a lot of nurses and doctors on how to do skin assessment and select the appropriate products and devices, and some aren’t sure of the correct way to clean or touch the face, let alone something more advanced. So, it seems ridiculous to expect practitioners to oversee a fully qualified and experienced beauty therapist! We should definitely voice out loud! ”
Kirsten Steward, advanced electrologist and owner, Kirsten Steward Beauty Therapy, Chatteris: “After nearly 40 years of electrolysis and blemish removal with not one claim on my insurance, I might not be able to carry out my job without medical oversight! As much as I want regulation, it needs to be fair.”
Jolene Rees, clinical director, Innovations Beauty, Stockton-on-Tees: “As an expert in my field, an industry I’ve been part of for over 20 years, why should I suddenly have a healthcare professional who will know far less than myself supervise me?! It’s insulting and shows a huge lack of awareness by the individuals proposing this. Glad to read so many comments supporting my thoughts. I love the idea of becoming regulated to increase standards but not in this way!”
This month we asked you…
Are you running offers or discounts for the New Year?
Do you offer treatments for children?
Julie Broster, counsellor and salon owner, Visage, Denbigh: “Yes! I offer counselling along with facials, nails or massage for children and teenagers. Sadly, so many are struggling with mental health or at school, they open up more whilst having a lovely relaxing treatment. I teach them from the second they walk in that it’s a calming environment ”
Michaela Beth Morris, facialist, Terrace Therapies, Cornwall: “I’m home based and offer a Clear Start skin treatment which is educationled. It’s not about ‘beauty’, it’s about knowledge of skincare. Those struggling with acne and eczema find it very valuable. The teens come with their parent and it’s a lesson for both.”
