September proved to be a steady month for nail businesses, with a balanced split between growth and consistency – 35% of nail pros saw stronger treatment business compared to last year, while another 33% maintained steady results. The average of 27 nail treatments per week shows that client demand remains healthy, even as some businesses manage the post-summer slowdown.
When it comes to tricky client situations, most nail techs are taking a professional and educational approach. Nearly half (44%) said they’d never turn away clients with damaged DIY nails, instead seeing it as a chance to educate and convert them into loyal salon-goers – a smart move for long-term client retention.
However, 74% admitted to feeling burnout from taking on too many clients, highlighting the ongoing need for balance and boundaries in busy salons. And when it comes to client quirks, like bringing snacks or friends, most techs agree it’s fine “as long as it doesn’t interfere”.
