Should you set boundaries about clients messaging out of hours?

@vanitymobilenails_notts: “I personally don’t mind a text message anytime and I will respond when I can. Phone calls will only be made during working hours though.” @hpbconnector: “I work on a ‘message when you think to do so’ and I’ll respond on an ‘as soon as possible for me’ basis. We then have a mutual understanding and respect of each other's time. I’ve found that encouraging my clients to action in their time when it’s fresh in their mind (or the only time they can) and letting them know I will reciprocate in the same way works well.”

Louise Tilden: “I set the boundaries in the settings on my phone. I ensure my DND is set and it’s down to me to leave my phone alone! I have a lot of night-working hospital staff as clients and if their tea break is 3am and they reach out to me, that’s cool, as long as they don’t expect an urgent response.”

Is word of mouth still the best form of marketing?

@avas_lounge: “Yes, and it’s the best feeling whenever I get a message starting ‘you’ve been highly recommended by…’ ✨”

@annelouisebeautyacademy: “Definitely, nothing better than a personal recommendation that is built on trust to reassure new clients ✨”

@lumina_beautysalon: “Absolutely. Word of mouth will always hold incredible power because people trust real experiences from friends, family, and even genuine online reviews. For beauty and wellness, especially, personal recommendations carry more weight than any advert ever could. That said, combining word of mouth with a strong social media presence helps to amplify those referrals and reach new clients who may not have found you otherwise.”

Should you post personal content on your business page?

@skinfxstudios “I used to think it was strictly professional until some clients told me they would like to see some personal and when I did really enjoyed it so try and keep a low balance of personal but mostly professional ❤️”

@tabbyfa “In 2025 – yes! People want to connect with the person behind the brand. Sure, there's got to be some boundaries, but in a world starting to run more and more with AI it's no surprise real connections are making a more meaningful impact”

Guinot Earlsfield “Depends on the social platform. TikTok favours short, raw, honest content.
