Do you wear gloves for facials?
@chixorfish: “Microneedling, peels, dermaplaning, extractions: always gloves. For facial massage I want my energy to be felt and I want to feel what the client needs from me as a therapist. I can’t do that with gloves on.”
Lisa Maria: “I never used to use gloves until I developed contact dermatitis due to prolonged use of essential oils. Luckily, I found some amazing gloves to wear in all my facials now which are thermal activated and like a second skin, so I can still feel everything and all my clients say they can’t even notice I’m wearing gloves.”
Mon Mon: “I always wear gloves. People love the fact that I wear them and I change them throughout my treatment.”
Haven House: “Absolutely not. Touch is so important and part of the experience for you and your client. You can feel everything with your hands and how the skin feels. I’m always getting comments about the heat from my hands and how it soothes them.”

Should tipping be optional or expected?
@jal.nailartist: “As a Canadian who now lives in the UK I have seen both sides. I came over with the mentality where we felt guilty not to tip anyone in the service industry (even someone behind the bar at a pub would get a tip from me ). Having been here 13 years now I have taken a full 360º turn and I don’t ever expect to be tipped because I understand this is just not what people do here. I still tip my hairdresser or beauty therapist because I choose to but I don’t expect it from clients. I don’t refuse it if they wish to tip – it’s nice that they want to give you a little extra but I’m certainly not offended if they don’t. My services cover everything ”
@jordonolivernailsandbeauty: “I personally am fine with not being tipped by clients but also personally would never dream of not tipping my facialist at least £10 on top on my £60 facial. I think she deserves something for herself and it’s a joy to gift her something. ♥”
