The UK is among the most expensive countries in the world for beauty services and products, found the 2017 Beauty Price Index, compiled by Latin American e-commerce platform linio.com.
In a bid to better understand global economic beauty trends, Linio compared 50 countries across three categories – the average costs of beauty services, products and cosmetic procedures.
Highest-scoring countries were the most affordable overall, and the UK ranked 36, making it the 14th most expensive country on the list.
A manicure and pedicure treatment scored 46, eyebrow and Brazilian waxing both ranked 41, while the cost of foundation came out as 34, mascara 14, and lipstick, anti-ageing cream, eyshadow and nail polish at 18.
Japan was the most expensive country overall, followed by Singapore, the US, Sweden, Australia, Finland, Denmark and Norway.
In contrast, the top five cheapest countries were Vietnam, India, South Africa, Thailand and Egypt. The Czech Republic, Colombia, Panama and Malaysia were also noted for their affordability.
